Instagram recently had its first-ever three-day virtual event for creators. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has introduced features helping creators earn money through the Instagram platform. Creators can partner with companies, sell their own merchandise, earn money from their supporters and earn a portion of the advertisement revenue that runs against their video content.
“Our goal is to be the best platform for creators like you to make a living,” Zuckerberg said in a live Instagram “Creator week” event. He added, “And if you have an idea that you want to share with the world, you should be able to create it and get it out there easily and simply – across Facebook and Instagram – and then earn money for your work.”
Instagram creators earn money by collaborating with brands or having their own shopping website where they redirect customers from Instagram. Now with the help of new tools on Instagram content creators and influencers on the platform can earn more.
Affiliate & New Shops Features on Instagram
Many Instagram influencers have a strong connection with their followers. Many influencers use this to sell products from brands or market their own product line.
The social network will be testing a native affiliate tool that will allow creators to discover new products available on checkout, share them with their followers, and earn commissions for the sales they have made. And all that through the Instagram app.
If a user comes across a post from the content creator that has a product tagged to it. The user can see a message at the top of the post as “eligible for commission”. If users purchases through the posts of the content creators earn money on it.
Brands will be able to set their own commission rates through the store feature. Whereas creators with their own products will be able to link to their shops in their personal profiles.
Ways to earn from Badges
“As we see more and more creators use these tools to engage directly with their fans, we want to reward them for the impact they’re bringing to our communities. That’s why we’re launching ways for creators to make extra money for hitting certain milestones with badges and Stars”, Said Instagram in their blog
To earn a badge creators will have to perform certain tasks such as going live with another account and more such milestones. Similar to badges on Instagram, Facebook is introducing stars feature on its platform.
Apart from affiliate and badges, Instagram is planning to add a feature where fans can pay content creators.
It’s a great effort by Facebook to attract new content creators from Youtube and Tiktok. This will help many influencers and creators earn money on the platform.
Do let us know in the comments below what do you think of these features. Will it attract more users or maintain the existing creators who are shifting towards Youtube.
